Some diet, some hit the gym, and some even put themselves through crazy medical procedures just to shed the pounds. But you know, there is an alternative way to looking slimmer that doesn’t involve any of the hard and uncomfortably painful work. All it takes is a few choice pieces from your wardrobe – and bam, you’re looking slim and glam. Here’s how…
The first way is to wear dark colors under light ones. By layering from dark to light, you’ll instantly minimize your frame while maximizing your slimmer looking self.
Next is to wear pumps that match your skin tone. By doing this, you’ll give yourself the illusion of having longer (thus slimmer) legs. It’s especially effective when paired with a mid-thigh skirt.
Choose the right jacket. Jackets that are baggy and pockety will do you no favors. Find one that’s about hip length with tailored lines, which will give the illusion of a fitter, slimmer you.
Try dressing in bold colors. For example, colors like red, blue, or black soak up the light, which in effect, makes you appear sleeker.
When wearing jeans remember: throw on some heels and tuck in your shirt. Heels give you the length without the width, and tucking pulls you in – not out.
Unlike men, women have the luxury of going more flowy with their pieces. Except however, when you want to look slimmer. Then you’ll have to take a page out of a man’s book and buy shirts that are more tailored to your body.
Play with proportions. For example; wearing a miniskirt with a long top, or say, a fitted shirt with wide leg pants will give you the appearance of being tall and slim.
V-neck dresses with cinched waists: they’re gods gift to a woman’s figure.
Buckle up with the right belt. For example, a belt with a touch of nylon stretch will neatly and comfortably pull you in. And remember to go with wider belts, not skinny ones that visually cut you in half.
Give a long cardigan a try. Short cardigans only make you look shorter. Long ones however – especially those that graze your hips – will make your torso look long and thin.
Want to lose 5 pounds? Match the color but not the shade of your pants to your top. Want to lose 10 pounds though? Then wear all one color and one shade. You’ll see the pounds fly off as you put these single colored clothes on.
Into jeans? Then avoid the low-rise ones. They’ll only muffin top you. Instead, get mid-rise ones which fall about and inch below your belly button. The difference is huge, and you, not.
